Artcurial puts Johnny Hallyday's Strom watch up for sale
As the Artcurial auction house resumes its summer quarters on the Riviera, at the Hôtel Hermitage in Monaco from July 15 to 21, it is offering for sale a Strom watch that belonged to Johnny Hallyday.

There are many watches seen on the wrist of the rock star over the years. Rolex, Cartier, Chanel, Audemars Piguet, a Swiss Chronograph Mangusta and this Daniel Strom Memento Mori; as a reminder, Chronopassion is the only retailer in France to offer the brand.
As a reminder, Strom is an ultra-confidential watch brand that few watch lovers know... Founded in 2010 by Daniel Strom, a Swiss-German designer and son of the watchmaker Armin Strom, it offers watches with a "gothic" and very rock n' roll style!
The case and its numerous skulls represent the fusion between watchmaking and goldsmithing. In silver, the issue all in relief comes to enclose the movement (a traditional calibre ETA 2824). The crown is also skull-shaped! As for the dial, it borrows the codes of two famous clocks: Big Ben in London and Zytglogge in Bern. Only three hands mark the time: hours, minutes and seconds.

Daniel Strom wanted to "design a watch that would tell not only the time but also express the existential questions of man". Impossible to stop time, to deceive it, to ignore it...
Far from being just an aesthetic façade, the skulls adorn this watch -just like the vanities in the painting- turn out to be a whole symbol: life must be lived. Without reserve!
It is therefore understandable that this concept could have seduced Johnny who has always burned the candle at both ends... Estimated between 5,000 and 15,000 euros, one can imagine that it goes for much more than that!
